Ten-year-old William York lived in a workhouse in Eyke, near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, where he shared a bed with five-year-old Susan Mayhew. One morning in 1748 William woke to find that Susan had wet the bed. He took her outside, cut her wrists and elbows, then slashed open her thigh; the little girl bled to death. William was given the death sentence, but chose a career in the navy as a reprieve.
Alyssa Bustamante is a 15-year-old from Missouri, who in 2009 murdered her 9-year-old neighbor, Elizabeth Olten. She strangled her and then stabbed her, when asked why she did it, she told the police she “wanted to know what it felt like.”
Teenagers Diane Zamora and David Graham started dating in August 1995, but in November of that year Graham was unfaithful to Diane. When he confessed his infidelity, Diane told him he must kill the girl he had betrayed her with, Adrianne Jones. On 3 December, in their home town of Grand Prairie, Texas, David arranged a date with Adrianne. Together they drove out to a secluded spot where Diane, hidden in the car, smashed her victim’s head in with a dumbbell. The body was found the next day and David was interviewed and cleared, but in August the following year Diane confessed to two friends who promptly contacted the authorities. On 17 February 1998 Diane was convicted and received a life sentence. In July of that year David was also convicted and sentenced to life. Neither will be eligible for parole for 40 years.
